"The Art of Being Blake"

Blake Lively graces yet another cover! Blake got the cover of Marie Claire's 20th Anniversary Issue (September 2014). Although I have to admit, I liked her Vogue cover more... she's still got it. In the Marie Claire interview, called "The Art of Being Blake", the blonde beauty tells us...

  • Ryan Reynolds is her "best, best friend"
  • She would "spit out a litter of kids" if she could
  • Ryan's favorite food is hot fudge sundaes (inspiration for Preserve's "Sex on Sundaes" article, perhaps?)

Blake's Red Carpet Tricks: What Would Gisele Do?

By looking at Blake Lively on the red carpet you would never know that she isn't completely comfortable. I mean, she always looks gorgeous and tops the best dressed lists after almost every red carpet appearance. But all that aside, Blake is a shy person by nature. Unlike other celebrities (like Beyonce), Blake doesn't come "alive" on the red carpet. Instead she has said that she puts on a confident face and channels Gisele Bundchen for inspiration.

Blake's Lucious Locks... Easier than you think!

Blake's hair is definitely one of her most enviable assets. Which is why it's so shocking that her hair care routine is so simple. Of course she has her hair professionally colored, and sometimes professionally cut (she likes to do it herself too!). But day-to-day, Blake likes to wrap her wet hair in a ballerina bun to get her oh so well-known soft waves.

She tells us, she waits until her hair is 3/4 of the way dry and then wraps her hair in a tight, low ballerina bun. Occasionally she adds a bit of mousse or ocean water (yes, she has a jug of actual ocean water) to get a bit more texture. Once her hair is dry she pulls out the bun, and voila!

I wouldn't recommend going Blake's route and using actual ocean water in your hair. (Think of the chemicals, oil and fish poop!) But adding a bit of salt water can help give you a natural looking wave with minimal effort. My all time favorite is the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, but there are lots of other options to check out also.

Blake Lively and Martha Stewart have more in common than just being neighbors in Bedford, NY... They are also both pros in the kitchen! Blake joined Elettra Wiedemann (former model and founder of GOODNESS) to create one of her favorite recipes. Blake teaches Elettra the secret behind her Sausage & Brie Puff Pastry (recipe below).

Not only do you learn Blake's tricks of the trade in the kitchen, but you get to learn a few fun facts about the beautiful, yet down to earth actress.

1. She doesn't drink alcohol, but she loves cooking with it!  She thinks it tastes like medicine.
2. She spent time in prison... Disney prison.
3. She admits to having a criminal past... once hopping trains in Europe.
4. She cracks a mean egg
5. The girl can dress herself! No stylist needed.
6. She cooks without a recipe.

Lively at Chime for Change

Found this cute video of Blake. I love that she doesn't like to go to after parties, but opts for ice cream with her hubby.

See more about How Blake Lively Stays in Shape here.
And don't miss her gorgeous Gucci suede coat that topped the dress she is wearing in the video, here.

Comfy and Cute at a L'Oreal Paris Interview

Here's a recent shot of Blake during a L'Oreal interview. I love the simple white tee, maxi skirt and those orange pumps! Anytime you can dress up a plain white tee, I am game! Blake wore a Vionnet cotton blend top. You can't see much of the heels from the image, but they are just so fabulous that I included an extra picture of the heels themselves. A lot of the major designers have come out with tangerine orange heels this season. It's definitely a color to watch out for! Not only do these heels have a gorgeous pop of color, but they are topped off with a beautiful and chic butterfly. Sophia Webster is not the only designer to incorporate butterflies into her designs. We also saw Blake Lively wearing a gorgeous Valentino butterfly coat (see our post Vibrant in NYC).
